CYNTHIA MULLINS oil and pastel paintings
Pines, Exit 56 - sold
oil on copper
18" x 22"
Some of the pines on the parkway are so beautiful. These two were majestic, outstretched and brave standing in the median of the parkway. They were one of the reasons I first wanted to paint the parkway.

It turned out that these particular pines sit in the median between the two service stations on the Wilbur Cross. The Wilbur Cross was the continuation of the Merritt built a few years after the Merritt's completion. These beautiful pines are still there, but last winter was a little hard on them and they are not quite as regal as they were; but here they are, the image preserved.

This oil is on copper, which is fun to paint on since the beautiful copper color shows through in some places and radiates warmth throughout the piece. You get a glow that is uniquely belonging to this painted copper.
