"Day and the Bridge" is a piece showing an early day drive with an open sky suggesting the possibilities of the day to come. There is a white station wagon about to cross over the bridge and a car that just passed through underneath heading east, with only the car top showing casting a slight shadow on the road.
This is the Route 34 bridge and is not on the Merritt but past the Sikorsky onto the Wilbur Cross, a continuation of the same route. George Dunkelberger designed all the Merritt Parkway Bridges as well as those on the Wilbur Cross.
